Telangana Government Launches Integrated Bhu Bharati Portal for Land Record Modernization

In a significant move to modernize land administration and minimize property disputes, the Telangana government has introduced comprehensive reforms through the Bhu Bharati land portal. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emphasized that these initiatives are designed to safeguard farmers' land rights by providing permanent, legally-backed documentation.

Permanent Land Rights with Survey Maps

The minister highlighted that the new system grants farmers permanent land rights supported by an official survey map and a unique Bhudhar number. This framework offers farmers enhanced confidence, security, and assurance regarding their property ownership and future prospects. "The integrated Bhu Bharati portal will emerge as a model for the nation," Reddy stated, responding to a recent milestone in implementation.

Historic First Registration in Kusumanchi

On Tuesday, the first land registration incorporating a survey map was successfully completed in Kusumanchi mandal of Khammam district. The transaction involved farmer Bhagam Kishan Rao from Motapuram village in Nelakondapalli mandal, who sold one acre and four guntas of land in survey number 156/E/1 to Katta Venkateswara Rao, also from the same village.

The registration was processed at the Kusumanchi tahsildar office, accompanied by a detailed map outlining the land boundaries. For this transaction, the tahsildar allocated land map-1 and the Bhudhar number 795GCHDCUPJ7H0. This event marks a pivotal step in the state's efforts to provide a permanent solution to land disputes, with plans to gradually extend the system statewide.

Pilot Project Across Five Mandals

The pilot phase of the integrated Bhu Bharati portal commenced on April 2, covering five mandals:

  • Kosgi in Narayanpet district
  • Kusumanchi in Khammam district
  • Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district
  • Amangal in Rangareddy district
  • Vatpalli in Sangareddy district

Under this initiative, the government is unifying the survey and registration departments under a single umbrella to streamline processes. The Bhu Bharati Act mandates the attachment of a survey map during land registration, a rule currently enforced in the five pilot mandals. Additionally, individuals can voluntarily apply for and verify survey certificates related to their properties, enhancing transparency and reducing conflicts.

Broader Implications and Future Expansion

The Telangana government is actively working to implement this system across the state, aiming to transform land record management and provide a robust framework for property transactions. By integrating technology and legal reforms, the Bhu Bharati portal seeks to eliminate ambiguities in land ownership, thereby fostering economic stability and trust among landowners, particularly in agricultural communities.

This initiative reflects a broader trend in digital governance, leveraging portals to address longstanding administrative challenges. As the pilot progresses, officials anticipate scaling the model to other regions, potentially setting a benchmark for land record modernization nationwide.
