Trichy Corporation Unveils Major Rs 67 Crore Road Redevelopment Plan Ahead of Assembly Elections
In a significant announcement, Trichy Corporation is set to launch extensive road development work across all zones of the city, with a total budget allocation of Rs 67 crore. Mayor Mu Anbalagan revealed this ambitious initiative during his address at the corporation's main office on Monday, as part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations.
Comprehensive Road Repair to Address Infrastructure Damage
The primary focus of this development project will be the redevelopment of roads that have suffered damage during the multiple phases of underground drainage (UGD) and the 24X7 drinking water projects. Mayor Anbalagan emphasized that this work is crucial to ensure a smooth and hassle-free commute for residents, addressing long-standing issues caused by previous infrastructure upgrades.
The mayor confirmed that the road development work will be initiated before the upcoming assembly election, highlighting the corporation's commitment to timely execution and public welfare. This move is expected to enhance urban mobility and improve the overall quality of life in Trichy.
Republic Day Celebrations and Employee Recognition
Earlier in the day, Mayor Mu Anbalagan unfurled the national flag, marking the Republic Day festivities. The event also served as a platform to honor dedicated employees of the local body. A cash prize of Rs 2,000 each was awarded to 27 employees who have completed 25 years of meritorious service, recognizing their long-term contributions.
Additionally, 51 other employees were felicitated for their outstanding public service. Notable among them were City Health Officer (CHO) Subhash Gandhi, Assistant Commissioner V Saravanan of zone III, and Assistant Commissioner K Sennukrishnan of zone V. Sanitary workers, including those deployed at the Srirangam temple during the annual Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, were also acknowledged for their efforts.
Health Department's Initiatives for Animal Welfare
During his address, Mayor Anbalagan applauded the health department's decentralized approach to sterilizing street dogs as part of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) drive. This initiative is being carried out at four different locations across the city, aiming to manage the stray canine population effectively.
He further announced that safe shelters will be commissioned soon to relocate stray canines from public institutions, in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Court. This step underscores the corporation's commitment to both public safety and animal welfare, ensuring a balanced approach to urban management.
The Republic Day event not only celebrated national pride but also highlighted Trichy Corporation's proactive measures in infrastructure development, employee recognition, and community welfare, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
