CM Dhami Marks Five Years with New Outreach Initiative
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami completed five years in office on July 4, 2026, marking the occasion by launching Phase 2 of the 'Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar' (People's Government at People's Doorstep) program. The initiative aims to bring government services directly to citizens across the state, building on the success of the first phase.
Phase 2 Aims to Reach Every Village
The second phase of the program is designed to cover all 16,000 villages in Uttarakhand, ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to essential government services. According to a state government spokesperson, the first phase of the program, launched in 2024, had already reached over 8,000 villages, benefiting more than 12 lakh families. The new phase will intensify efforts, with camps being organized at the block and village levels.
Chief Minister Dhami stated, "Our government is committed to ensuring that no citizen is left behind. Through 'Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar', we are taking the administration to the doorsteps of the people, making governance more accessible and transparent." He added that the program has received positive feedback from rural areas, where many residents previously had to travel long distances for basic services.
Key Services Under the Program
The program offers a range of services, including issuance of caste certificates, income certificates, domicile certificates, and other essential documents. Additionally, it provides information about state welfare schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Free Tablet Yojana and the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana. Health camps and legal aid services are also part of the initiative.
During the launch event in Dehradun, Dhami highlighted the government's achievements over the past five years, including a 25% increase in the state's GDP and significant improvements in infrastructure, particularly roads and electricity in hilly areas. He also noted that the state's tourism sector has grown by 40% since 2021, creating new employment opportunities.
Political Significance and Future Plans
The five-year milestone holds political significance as Dhami has led the state through challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters. His government has focused on connecting remote areas and enhancing digital governance. The launch of Phase 2 is seen as a move to consolidate support ahead of the next assembly elections in 2027.
Dhami also announced plans to expand the program to include online services through a mobile app, allowing citizens to apply for documents from home. "Technology is a great enabler. We are working to make all government services available digitally, but for those who are not digitally literate, our camps will continue to provide face-to-face assistance," he said.
The Chief Minister concluded by thanking the people of Uttarakhand for their support and reiterated his government's commitment to inclusive development. The event was attended by state ministers, MLAs, and senior officials.
