First Steps: Sanitation Jobs and Business Loans
The mission has already seen tangible results in its initial phase. As a first step, the police, in collaboration with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), have facilitated the appointment of 20 transgender persons as sanitation workers. This provides them with a stable source of income and formal employment recognition.
Furthermore, understanding the aspiration for entrepreneurship within the community, the initiative has also helped five individuals avail of loans from the State Bank of India (SBI). These funds are enabling them to start their own small businesses, paving the way for financial independence and self-reliance.
