West Champaran Administration Dispels LPG Shortage Rumors, Confirms Normal Supply
In a proactive move to address public concerns, West Champaran District Magistrate Taranjot Singh convened a crucial meeting on Thursday with operators of 81 LPG agencies and field officers from various oil marketing companies. The gathering took place at the collectorate auditorium in Bettiah, focusing specifically on reviewing the availability of domestic LPG cylinders across the district.
Meeting Convened Following Social Media Rumors
The administration organized this meeting in direct response to widespread rumors circulating on social media platforms about an impending shortage of domestic LPG cylinders. All sub-divisional officers attended the session, underscoring the seriousness with which officials approached these concerns.
During the comprehensive review, both LPG agency operators and field officers provided detailed assurances to the district administration. They confirmed unequivocally that there is no shortage of domestic cylinders and that supply chains throughout West Champaran continue to function normally without disruption.
District Magistrate Addresses Unnecessary Confusion
Addressing participants directly, DM Taranjot Singh expressed concern about how rumors regarding LPG shortages had created unnecessary confusion among consumers. He emphasized the importance of clear communication to prevent public anxiety.
"I have asked all agency operators to proactively inform their customers that there is absolutely no scarcity of domestic LPG," Singh stated during the meeting. "This transparency will help ensure people do not gather outside agencies unnecessarily, maintaining order and preventing panic."
Stock Details Reveal Adequate Supplies Despite Increased Demand
Officials presented detailed stock information during the session, revealing that LPG agencies currently maintain adequate supplies to meet district requirements. However, they acknowledged that demand has seen a noticeable increase in recent days, placing additional pressure on distribution networks.
The District Magistrate reminded consumers about existing government guidelines regarding cylinder bookings:
- New LPG cylinder bookings in urban areas can only be made after 25 days
- Rural area bookings require a 45-day interval between refills
Administrative Directives for Improved Consumer Assistance
Singh issued several important directives to ensure smooth LPG distribution and consumer support:
- All LPG agencies must prominently display helpline numbers at their premises
- Sub-divisional authorities must ensure 24x7 helplines remain active and widely publicized
- Regular monitoring of LPG agencies by sub-divisional officers
- Immediate verification of stock levels and prompt action on consumer complaints
Strict Warning Against Black Marketing
The District Magistrate delivered a stern warning against any potential black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders. "Black marketing will not be tolerated under any circumstances," Singh emphasized. He instructed officials to ensure cylinders are sold strictly at government-approved rates and to take immediate action against any violations.
This comprehensive review meeting demonstrates the West Champaran administration's commitment to maintaining essential commodity supplies and addressing public concerns transparently. By bringing together all stakeholders, officials have established clear communication channels to prevent future misinformation and ensure domestic LPG distribution continues smoothly throughout the district.
