Bhu Suraksha: 40 Crore Pages Scanning by February

Karnataka is rapidly advancing toward complete digitization of land records under its flagship Bhu Suraksha initiative. The state government has announced an ambitious target to scan the remaining 40 crore pages of original land documents by February 2026.

Massive Digitization Drive Progress

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda revealed the program's current status, highlighting that 53 crore pages have already been successfully digitized. This represents significant progress in preserving and securing critical land ownership documents across the state.

The minister made this announcement on November 29, 2025, emphasizing the government's commitment to creating a comprehensive digital repository of all original and source documents related to land ownership. The remaining 40 crore pages represent the final phase of this massive digitization project.

What Bhu Suraksha Means for Citizens

The Bhu Suraksha program aims to transform how land records are maintained and accessed in Karnataka. Once complete, property owners will benefit from:

  • Secure digital storage of original documents
  • Reduced risk of document loss or damage
  • Easier access to land records
  • Streamlined property transaction processes

Digitizing 93 crore pages in total represents one of the largest such initiatives undertaken by any state government in India. The scale of this project underscores the importance of preserving land records for future generations while making them easily accessible to current landowners.

Roadmap to Completion

With the February 2026 deadline approaching, the revenue department is accelerating its scanning operations across all districts. The successful completion of this project will mark a significant milestone in Karnataka's journey toward digital governance and property rights protection.

The Bhu Suraksha program not only secures historical land documents but also paves the way for more efficient land administration systems. This initiative aligns with the central government's Digital India mission while addressing state-specific needs for robust land record management.
