India Has Sufficient Fertilizer Stock, Says Agriculture Minister

India Maintains Robust Fertilizer Reserves Amid International Unrest

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan affirmed on Friday that India possesses sufficient stocks of fertilizers, with the government actively working to ensure supply chains remain uninterrupted despite ongoing global tensions. Chouhan emphasized that while conflicts abroad create worldwide crises with direct and indirect repercussions, India has undertaken comprehensive preparations to mitigate any potential disruptions.

Government's Proactive Measures to Secure Agricultural Inputs

"I will not claim there are no challenges, but we have made all necessary arrangements to address them," Chouhan declared. "As of today, we have adequate fertilizer inventory. Presently, we are not concerned and are diligently executing strategies to guarantee these supplies remain sufficient." The minister underscored the administration's commitment to exploring all available options to sustain fertilizer availability, even in the event of a prolonged international conflict.

Addressing Agricultural Challenges and Embracing Technological Advancements

Chouhan also highlighted the need to alleviate burdens on farmers, particularly given the prevalence of small landholdings across the country. He noted, however, a positive trend of many young individuals adopting technology and returning to agriculture. "Numerous farmers have successfully doubled their incomes. Some have even achieved threefold or fourfold increases," he added, pointing to the transformative impact of innovation in the sector.

The minister's statements come at a time when global events, such as the Israel-Iran tensions, have raised concerns about supply chain stability. India's proactive stance aims to reassure the agricultural community and ensure food security remains uncompromised.
