Telangana Chief Minister Launches 'Toli Mudda' Breakfast Scheme for Anganwadi Children

In a significant move to bolster child nutrition, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy officially launched the 'Toli Mudda' breakfast scheme on Saturday. The initiative is designed to provide nutritious morning meals to children attending Anganwadi centers across the state.

Focus on Nutrition and Health

During the launch event held at the assembly premises, CM Revanth Reddy underscored that food security alone is insufficient for ensuring the well-being of young children. He emphasized that access to nutritious food is absolutely essential for their proper growth and development.

"The lack of nutritious food is a major cause for concern and contributes significantly to health ailments among children. This is a deeply worrying factor that we must address urgently," stated the Chief Minister.

Importance of Early Childhood Development

Revanth Reddy highlighted the critical importance of mental health development in children under the age of six. He explained that providing proper nutrition from an early age is vital for building a strong foundation for their future.

"For this very reason, our government has launched this breakfast scheme. We aim to improve the health conditions of children right from their childhood, ensuring they have the best possible start in life," he added.

Comprehensive Support for Mothers and Children

The Chief Minister also revealed that the program extends beyond just children. Nutritious food is being provided to mothers from the day of conception at Anganwadi centers, creating a holistic approach to family health and well-being.

In his address, Revanth Reddy drew inspiration from India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who prioritized education and irrigation to combat illiteracy and strengthen agriculture. He positioned the breakfast scheme as part of this legacy of foundational development.

Addressing Infrastructure and Implementation

The Chief Minister made several important announcements regarding the scheme's implementation:

  • Assurance to Anganwadi Staff: He promised that the government would address all pending issues faced by Anganwadi workers and staff members.
  • Call for Dedication: Revanth Reddy urged the workers to implement the scheme with true spirit and dedication, caring for the children as they would for their own family members.
  • Infrastructure Development: He directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans for constructing permanent buildings for Anganwadi centers, with the goal of phasing out operations from private premises.

This initiative represents a significant step in Telangana's efforts to improve child nutrition and early childhood development through targeted government intervention.
