Yogi Adityanath Directs Focus on Public Welfare in UP's 2026-27 Budget Planning
In a significant meeting held in Lucknow on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the state's budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year will prioritize the continuity of public welfare schemes, expansion of social security measures, and strengthening of basic facilities. The meeting was convened to discuss the state's budgetary proposals ahead of the Union Budget presentation on February 1, 2026.
Building on Nine Years of Progress
Addressing officials, CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has achieved concrete progress in development, security, and prosperity over the past nine years. "This progress has raised expectations among the people of the state, and meeting these expectations is the government's top priority," he stated. He directed all departments to focus on public welfare while preparing their budgetary proposals, underscoring that bringing positive change in the lives of the poor, farmers, workers, women, youth, and deprived sections should be the core essence of the budget.
Comprehensive Review and Strategic Discussions
The Chief Minister sought detailed updates from departments regarding their financial approvals and expenditure against the current financial year's budget. Following this, extensive discussions were held on:
- Budget proposals and new demands for the upcoming fiscal year.
- Proposals placed by the state government in relation to the Union Budget 2026-27.
- Necessary adjustments to departmental budget proposals after the Union Budget announcement, particularly provisions impacting Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adityanath asserted that the budget for 2026-27 will prove to be a strong step toward fulfilling the dreams and expectations of the state's residents through public welfare, good governance, and financial prosperity.

During the meeting, the CM reviewed critical provisions related to:
- Essential Services: Food security, housing, health, and education.
- Public Safety and Justice: Directing police, justice, and administration departments to strengthen public safety, ensure speedy justice, and build greater trust among citizens.
- Infrastructure Development: Discussions on roads, buildings, and other infrastructure to improve connectivity, boost industrial activities, and create employment opportunities.
- Financial Stability: Proposals on revenue strengthening, administrative reforms, and expenditure efficiency to ensure the state's financial prosperity and stability while maintaining continuity in development works.
