Family Circumstances and Incident Details
The survivor's family was already facing a difficult situation, as her father had met with an accident on February 1 and was shifted to a hospital in Bhopal for treatment. Her mother was also at the hospital to attend to him, leaving the girl at home with her two brothers. This vulnerable setting may have contributed to the tragic event.
According to police reports, the houses of the accused and the survivor are adjacent. On Tuesday night around 9 PM, the girl went to her uncle's house to give him food. In a horrifying turn of events, the accused allegedly dragged her into nearby bushes and committed the crime, exploiting the isolated location.
Brother's Alert and Police Response
The survivor's 12-year-old brother reportedly witnessed the uncle taking his sister toward the bushes. When she did not return after an hour, he went to search for her and found her in a traumatized state. He immediately alerted the neighbours, who then informed the city police around 11 PM. This quick response by the brother and neighbours was crucial in initiating the investigation.
The police have emphasized that the survivor's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy, in accordance with Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault. This measure aims to safeguard the minor from further trauma and public scrutiny during the legal process.
