Girl Found at Bhiwani Railway Station After Going Missing from MP Village

A 13-year-old girl from a village in Madhya Pradesh, who went missing from her home on June 30, was safely reunited with her family in Bhiwani on Friday through the joint efforts of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Government Railway Police (GRP) and police teams. The girl, a resident of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh, had left her home without informing her parents and had carried some cash with her.

CWC member advocate Dheeraj Saini informed that the girl was found by the GRP at Bhiwani railway station on July 8. He said the girl was frightened and appeared to be under trauma. She was unable to disclose her name or provide details about her family due to her mental condition. The GRP immediately informed the CWC, which took the child into custody and sent her to the One Stop Centre meant for distressed women in Bhiwani.

Multi-Agency Search and Counselling Leads to Identification

The GRP, CWC and Crime Branch swung into action and contacted their counterparts and other agencies in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, sharing her photograph for identification. During counselling at the One Stop Centre, the girl, who was initially reluctant to cooperate, later disclosed her name and the name of her village in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. A Bhiwani administration official informed that they traced the village as the girl was not able to provide details about the district. The girl was also found to be illiterate.

After sustained efforts, the Bhiwani personnel at the One Stop Centre managed to contact a person running a medical store near her village back in Bhind district. The medical store owner then contacted the sarpanch, following which the Bhiwani administration officials were able to get in touch with the girl’s parents. The parents, who arrived in Bhiwani to take the girl back, informed the administration officials that she had left home on June 30 without informing them and had also carried some cash with her.

Emotional Support and Legal Formalities Completed

CWC Chairman advocate Pradeep Singh Tanwar said the primary focus was to provide the child with emotional support and a sense of security. "When the child was brought to us, she was under severe mental stress and fear. However, it was satisfying for us that the girl has been reunited with her family due to the collective effort of various agencies," he said. He informed that after due verification and completion of legal procedures, the girl was formally handed over to her father in the presence of CWC members and police officials. The girl’s father thanked the Bhiwani administration and the police for their efforts, he added.

The officials involved in the rescue and reunion operation included CWC members Neelam Rani, Satender Tanwar and Dinesh Atri, head constable Sudesh Kumari, constables Pooja Rani and Dharambir Singh, along with support staff Laxmi, Hemlata and Deepali.
