A 19-year-old resident of Karra was arrested by Khunti district police on Friday on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl on May 5, police said on Saturday.
Incident Details
The girl had met the accused at a marriage function, where she had gone with her friends. She agreed to return home with the youth on his motorcycle on the advice of her friends. However, the accused allegedly committed the crime on the way. The girl told her family members on Friday, and a case was registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police Statement
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishabha Garg said, “The accused, a class 10 dropout, has confessed to his involvement in the crime.” The police have arrested the accused and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
