Arrests Made in Targeted Attack

The Panchkula police have arrested two individuals in connection with the attempted murder of a Sector 4 resident. Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team from Sector 19 apprehended Vanshdeepak and Jaurav, alias Jaura, both residents of Kapurthala district, from Madara village in Jalandhar on July 6. The accused are believed to have conspired to kill the victim.

Details of the Attack

According to the police, the attack occurred on June 13 when Balvinder Singh was sitting outside his house in Sector 4. A white vehicle carrying several youths arrived, and the occupants attacked him with swords, iron rods, and other weapons. One of the accused allegedly fired a shot in the air. Balvinder Singh sustained serious injuries to his head, hands, legs, and back and was taken to Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula.

Police Investigation and Remand

The police have obtained a seven-day remand of the accused to recover the weapons used in the crime and to trace other suspects. During the investigation, a Mahindra XUV500 used in the crime was recovered. It was revealed that several suspects were in contact with each other before and after the attack. Police teams are raiding multiple locations to arrest the remaining accused. The motive behind the attack will become clear only after detailed questioning of the accused during their remand, the police said.

Legal Proceedings

A case was registered under sections related to attempt to murder and other offences at the Sector 5 police station, Panchkula, on June 13, following the victim's complaint. The investigation revealed that both accused had previously been involved in assault cases.
