Bokaro RPF Seizes 30 IMFL Bottles from Kosi Super Express, Liquor Worth Rs 12,640
30 IMFL bottles seized from train at Bokaro station

In a significant action against contraband transport via railways, personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Bokaro station seized a substantial quantity of illicit liquor from a moving train this week. The incident marks the second major confiscation of illegal substances at the station within two days, highlighting heightened vigilance by security forces.

Unclaimed Bag Yields Liquor Haul

According to official statements, the seizure occurred on Wednesday aboard the 18626 Kosi Super Express. RPF officer D K Dwivedi detailed that during a routine check, a suspicious trolley bag was spotted in a general coach of the train. Upon inquiry, none of the passengers present claimed ownership of the luggage, prompting officials to take it off the train for a thorough examination.

The inspection revealed a cache of alcohol. A total of 30 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), each with a capacity of 375 ml, were found concealed within the bag. The officials swiftly took possession of the contraband. The estimated market value of the seized liquor has been pegged at Rs 12,640.

Second Major Seizure in Consecutive Days

This liquor bust comes hot on the heels of another significant interception at the same station just a day earlier, on Tuesday. In that incident, RPF personnel recovered 20.0 kilograms of marijuana, worth approximately Rs 10.49 lakh, from two unclaimed trolley bags. Those bags were located in Coach B-2 of the Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad Express.

The back-to-back seizures point towards Bokaro railway station being used as a transit point for smuggling operations. The modus operandi in both cases involved leaving contraband in unclaimed luggage within general coaches, likely intended for collection by an accomplice at a later point or destination.

Disposal and Ongoing Vigilance

Since no individual came forward to claim the bag containing the IMFL bottles, the RPF has initiated the process of handing over the seized consignment to the excise department officials for further legal action and eventual disposal. The excise department will investigate the source and intended destination of the liquor.

These successful operations underscore the RPF's continued crackdown on the smuggling of banned and taxable items through the railway network. Authorities have urged passengers to remain vigilant and report any unattended luggage to railway staff or security personnel immediately to ensure safety and curb illegal activities.
