In a significant operation against the narcotics trade, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Mohali has apprehended four individuals and seized a substantial cache of drugs and cash. The bust took place in the Phase 7 Industrial Area, dealing a blow to local drug supply chains.
Tip-Off Leads to Dramatic Arrest
According to ANTF police station incharge Ram Darshan, the team acted on specific intelligence about a group arriving in Phase 7 to distribute heroin. Police swiftly established checkpoints across the area. "When we signalled a gold-coloured car to stop, the driver panicked and tried to flee," stated Ram Darshan. The officers immediately cordoned off the vehicle and took all four occupants into custody.
Recovery and Accused Details
A thorough search of the car yielded 500 grams of heroin and Rs 2 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. The arrested men were identified as Arvinder Kumar (alias Parveen) from Sector 56, Chandigarh; Jashanpreet from Sangram Rangar, Batala; Karandeep from Kot Todar Mal, Gurdaspur; and Sandeep Singh, originally from Jalandhar but living near Mohali.
Interrogation revealed that the heroin was sourced from the Gurdaspur region. Sandeep Singh, who works at a hotel in Mohali, allegedly played a key role by facilitating deals and bringing customers to the premises. Police also confirmed that Arvinder Kumar has a prior criminal record, with two earlier cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and five pending theft cases registered at the Phase-1 police station.
Court Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
All four accused were presented before a local court on December 3, 2025. The court granted the police a two-day remand for further questioning. The ANTF is conducting intensive interrogation during this custody period to unravel the full extent of the supply network, identify funding sources, and locate other associates involved in the racket.
The task force has emphasized that its drive against drug trafficking will continue with heightened intensity in the coming days. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by Punjab police to combat the narcotics menace in the state.
