In a major weekend-long special drive, the Hyderabad Traffic Police launched a rigorous crackdown on drunk driving, resulting in the apprehension of a staggering 552 motorists across the city.

Shocking BAC Levels Revealed

The police data provides a detailed and concerning breakdown of the blood alcohol content (BAC) levels found in the offenders. A particularly alarming finding was that 10 drivers were found with an extreme BAC level exceeding 300 mg/100 ml.

Further analysis of the figures shows that 8 individuals had a BAC between 251 and 300 mg, while 19 were in the 201-250 mg range. The police also caught 64 drivers with BAC levels of 151-200 mg, and 112 offenders were in the 101-150 mg bracket. The largest group, comprising 212 people, had a BAC between 51 and 100 mg. Finally, 127 drivers were found with a BAC level between 30 and 50 mg.

Two-Wheeler Riders Top the List of Offenders

A breakdown of the types of vehicles involved reveals a significant road safety concern. The vast majority of those caught, a total of 438 individuals, were riding two-wheelers.

Furthermore, 45 people were driving three-wheelers, and 69 were operating four-wheelers or other types of vehicles. This data highlights that the menace of drunk driving is pervasive across all vehicle categories, with two-wheeler riders being the most frequent violators.
