Ghaziabad Girl, 7, Kidnapped and Raped at Construction Site; Police Hunt Accused
A horrifying incident has shaken Ghaziabad as a seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped while she was sleeping next to her family at a construction site in Niti Khand-2. The police have retrieved crucial CCTV footage where the child can be seen with the accused and are intensifying efforts to identify him, highlighting a disturbing pattern of crimes against minors in the district.
Family's Nightmare Unfolds
According to the girl's father, the family had recently shifted to the worksite from Madhya Pradesh after he secured a job as a security guard there just two months ago. On the night of April 15, the family went to sleep inside the building around 11 pm while he remained on duty. "I fell asleep near them around 1 am. Around 2.30 am, I woke up to my daughter crying," the father recounted. "When her mother and I asked what had happened, she told us that a man had covered her mouth, taken her to Swarn Jayanti Park, barely 30 metres away, beaten and slapped her repeatedly, then raped her."
After the brutal assault, the accused allegedly left the traumatized girl near the plot where the family was staying. "When her mother checked, the girl was bleeding. We went to the police immediately, but they have not arrested the accused or shared copies of the FIR and medical report with us," the father lamented. He further claimed that the accused threatened the girl, warning that if she disclosed the incident, he would kill her siblings and parents, adding to the family's anguish.
Police Response and Investigation
DCP Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed that an FIR has been registered against an unknown person under BNS Section 74 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Pocso Act at Indirapuram police station. "The accused was spotted with the girl in CCTV footage, and we are working to identify him. Several teams have been formed to investigate the matter," he stated, emphasizing the urgency of the case.
Alarming Trend of Crimes Against Minors
This tragic case marks the third instance of rape of a minor girl in Ghaziabad district within just one month, raising serious concerns about child safety. On March 16, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and bludgeoned to death with a stone by a neighbor who lured her away with the promise of a chocolate. In another harrowing incident last week, another four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her maternal uncle, with her body discovered under a parked car in the Teela Mod area on April 12.
The recurrence of such heinous acts underscores the critical need for enhanced security measures and swift justice to protect vulnerable children in the community.
