Gurugram: A 74-year-old woman was found dead in her home in DLF Phase 2, days after she was reported missing by her family. The body was discovered on Wednesday evening, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Discovery of the Body
The woman, identified as Shanti Devi, had been living alone in the DLF Phase 2 area. She was reported missing by her son on Monday after he was unable to contact her. On Wednesday, neighbors alerted authorities about a foul smell emanating from her residence. Police broke open the door and found her body lying on the floor.
Police Investigation Underway
Initial reports suggest that there were no visible injury marks on the body. However, police have not ruled out foul play. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Subhash Boken stated, “We are investigating all angles. The post-mortem report will give us clarity. We are also questioning neighbors and family members to piece together her last movements.”
Family Shocked and Demanding Answers
The family of the deceased has expressed shock and grief over the incident. They claim that Shanti Devi was in good health and had no known medical conditions that could have led to her sudden death. Her son, who resides in another part of the city, said, “My mother was independent and active. I spoke to her a few days ago, and she was fine. We want a thorough investigation to ensure justice.”
