Deadly Bus Accident on Vadodara-Halol Highway

A tragic road accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday near Kotambi village on the outskirts of Vadodara city, Gujarat. A private luxury bus collided with a stationary truck on the Vadodara-Halol Highway, resulting in eight fatalities and 26 injuries.

Details of the Collision

The accident took place around 4:00 am. The bus was en route from Rajasthan to Surat when it rammed into the truck, which was parked on the roadside. According to news agency PTI, most passengers on the bus were residents of Rajasthan.

Casualties and Rescue Operations

Vadodara Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal confirmed that eight people died, including the bus driver. Six victims died at the scene, while two succumbed to injuries later in the hospital. The truck driver had stopped to check tire pressure when the speeding bus hit from behind.

Rescue teams from the police, fire brigade, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) worked to extract passengers trapped in the mangled bus. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Legal Action

Police have detained the truck driver, and the process of formally arresting him is underway.
