Chennai History-Sheeter Ambedkar Arrested in Andhra with Ganja, Weapons
A-plus rowdy Ambedkar arrested in Andhra Pradesh

A notorious history-sheeter from Chennai, wanted in more than 30 criminal cases, was finally apprehended by a special police team in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. The arrest ends a prolonged manhunt for the 41-year-old accused.

Long-standing Criminal Record and Manhunt

The arrested individual, identified as Ambedkar, a resident of Kannigapuram in Pulianthope, is classified as an A-plus category rowdy. Police records indicate he has been a close associate of another known criminal, Ennore Dhanasekaran, for over 15 years.

Ambedkar was evading capture for several years, with cases pending against him at multiple police stations including Pulianthope and Vyasarpadi. The charges against him are grave, encompassing serious offences like murder and robbery. Following specific intelligence that he was hiding in Andhra Pradesh, a dedicated team was dispatched to track him down, leading to his capture.

Details of the Arrest and Seizure

Acting on a crucial tip-off regarding his hideout, officers from the special team travelled to Andhra Pradesh to conduct the operation. Upon his arrest, the police confiscated several items from his possession.

The seized materials included:

  • A quantity of ganja.
  • Three knives.
  • A car allegedly used for smuggling activities.

This haul suggests his continued involvement in illicit operations even while on the run.

Ongoing Gang Rivalry and Legal Proceedings

Investigations revealed a dangerous and long-running feud between Ambedkar and another rowdy figure known as Bomb Saravanan. Police stated that both individuals were actively plotting to assassinate each other, highlighting the volatile nature of gang conflicts in the area.

After his arrest in Andhra Pradesh, Ambedkar was transported back to Chennai. He was formally handed over to the Pulianthope police station for further legal action. A case has been registered in connection with the latest developments, and the court has remanded the history-sheeter to judicial custody.

This arrest marks a significant success for the Chennai police's special teams, who intensified their efforts to locate the absconding criminal. It is expected to temporarily disrupt criminal activities linked to his network and the ongoing rivalry.
