Telangana ACB Arrests Endowments Inspector for Rs 50,000 Bribe in Hyderabad
ACB Catches Inspector for Bribery in Hyderabad Land Case

In a significant anti-corruption operation, officials from the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a government inspector on Wednesday for soliciting and accepting a bribe. The arrest highlights the state's continued crackdown on corrupt practices within its administrative machinery.

Details of the Bribery Case

The accused has been identified as Akavaram Kiran Kumar, who served as an inspector in the Endowments Department. He was posted at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Endowments in Hyderabad. According to the ACB's Hyderabad City Range-1 team, the officer demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a complainant.

The bribe was solicited in exchange for an official favour. Kumar allegedly sought the money to issue a crucial survey report pertaining to a piece of land identified as Survey No. 616 at Bagh Amberpet. The report was essential for the complainant's proceedings.

The Trap and Arrest

Acting on the complainant's report, the ACB laid a trap to catch the inspector red-handed. During the operation, the officer accepted a partial payment of Rs 50,000 as the first instalment of the total bribe demanded. The ACB sleuths immediately moved in and recovered the cash from Kumar's possession.

An ACB official stated that the accused officer performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage. Following the successful trap, Akavaram Kiran Kumar was arrested on the spot. The bureau confirmed that the arrested official would be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases in Nampally for judicial remand.

Reiterating its commitment to a corruption-free administration, the Telangana ACB has urged citizens to come forward and report any demands for bribes. The bureau has provided multiple, confidential channels for reporting such incidents:
