According to official statements from Rajampet assistant superintendent of police Manoj Ramanath Hegde, the accused individual has been identified as Gobugari Subba Reddy, a 55-year-old farmer residing in Pulapathur Diguvapalli village. Law enforcement officials took him into custody on April 20 at approximately 10:30 am.
Acting on precise and actionable intelligence, a specialized police team led by inspector S Lingappa conducted the operation. The arrest occurred near Navodaya Colony at Mandapalli Cross within the Rajampet mandal area. Subba Reddy later ambushed Mallikarjuna near an Anganwadi school, where he struck the victim fatally on the head with a heavy stone. The attack proved immediately lethal, with Mallikarjuna dying on the spot while the perpetrator fled the scene.
