Background of the Crime and Victim

The case centers on the tragic murder of Dampetla Mallikarjuna, who was killed late on the night of April 15. Police investigations have uncovered that the accused harbored intense resentment toward the victim, stemming from prolonged family disputes and personal conflicts.

Tensions between the two individuals escalated significantly after an earlier incident where Subba Reddy allegedly behaved inappropriately with Mallikarjuna's wife. This led to repeated confrontations and even police cases, which were eventually resolved through Lok Adalat settlements.

Escalation to Fatal Violence

Despite the legal compromise reached through Lok Adalat, authorities report that Subba Reddy continued to issue threats against Mallikarjuna and was actively seeking an opportunity to eliminate him. On the fateful night of the crime, after consuming alcohol, the accused confronted his target.

Subba Reddy later ambushed Mallikarjuna near an Anganwadi school, where he struck the victim fatally on the head with a heavy stone. The attack proved immediately lethal, with Mallikarjuna dying on the spot while the perpetrator fled the scene.

Police Investigation and Evidence Recovery

Following the incident, police registered a formal case based on complaints filed by family members of the deceased. Special investigation teams were immediately deployed to pursue leads and track down the suspect.

After Subba Reddy's arrest, investigators recovered the murder weapon based on his confession during interrogation. The accused has now been formally remanded to custody as authorities continue their thorough investigation into all aspects of the case.

Current Status: The accused remains in police custody while further investigative procedures are underway. Authorities emphasize that this arrest represents a crucial step toward justice for the victim and his family.
