Agra Auto Driver Brutally Murdered Over Refusal to Delete Old Photos
In a shocking incident from Agra, a 35-year-old autorickshaw driver was allegedly burned alive by his former live-in partner, her newly-wed husband, and their accomplices. The gruesome attack occurred after the victim refused to delete old photos and videos of them together from his mobile phone.
Details of the Heinous Crime
Police reported that the victim, identified as Chand alias Saddam, a resident of Ram Swaroop Colony near Prithvinath Phatak in Agra, was returning home after dropping passengers on February 27. He was stopped in the Dauretha area, dragged out of his autorickshaw near Bilasganj, taken to a secluded spot, doused with petrol, and set ablaze.
Hearing his desperate screams, local residents rushed to the scene to help. Chand was initially admitted to SN Medical College for treatment but was later shifted to a private hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his burns on Wednesday night.
Family Alleges Pressure Over Old Media
Family members of the deceased have alleged that the woman, who had been living with Chand for nearly two years following her husband's death, recently married her brother-in-law, Allee Ahmed, aged 33. They claim she had been persistently pressuring Chand to delete old photos and videos of their time together, which ultimately led to the fatal confrontation.
In a display of grief and demand for justice, family members placed Chand's body on the road at Prithvinath Phatak on Thursday, blocking traffic for nearly an hour. The protest was only called off after police assured them of strict action against the accused.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
A case has already been registered against the woman, Shabnam, and her husband under BNS section 124, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid or similar substances. Police have formed a team to arrest the accused, and further BNS sections will be added to the FIR once the postmortem report is received.
ACP (Lohamandi) Gaurav Singh stated that further legal action is being taken based on collected evidence, including crucial CCTV footage from the area. The investigation is ongoing to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
This incident highlights a severe case of personal vendetta turning violent, underscoring the need for swift legal recourse in such matters.
