Ahmedabad: Late-Night Sarkhej Clash Leaves One Dead, Three Injured in Knife Attack
A violent late-night confrontation in Ahmedabad's Sarkhej area has resulted in one fatality and three individuals sustaining injuries, according to police reports on Wednesday. The incident unfolded in the Thakorvas locality, where longstanding tensions between two groups erupted into a deadly assault involving sharp weapons.
Details of the Violent Incident
The clash occurred when a group of men arrived on two-wheelers and initiated a quarrel before forcibly entering a residential property. Armed with knives, the assailants attacked members of a family inside the house, leading to severe injuries for four people.
Ganesh Thakor suffered critical stab wounds to the abdomen and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The three other victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently reported to be in stable condition. One of the injured was reportedly attacked while attempting to intervene and halt the assault.
Root Causes and Police Response
Police investigations indicate that the violence stemmed from a personal dispute between members of the two groups, with tensions simmering for several weeks. Earlier arguments and physical altercations had been documented, and the situation escalated further following an allegedly objectionable social media post on Tuesday, which allegedly provoked the accused individuals.
Upon receiving reports, Sarkhej police teams rushed to the location and initiated a comprehensive search operation. Authorities have registered a case encompassing charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement agencies have made significant progress in the case, with three suspects apprehended shortly after the offense. Bharat Thakor and Harshil Thakor were detained by the city crime branch, while Mahesh Thakor was arrested by Sarkhej police.
Police officials confirmed that efforts are actively underway to locate and apprehend the remaining accused individuals, identified as Pratap Thakor, Vishal Thakor, and Sanjay Thakor. Investigators noted that the assailants were armed with knives and had allegedly issued threats to the victims prior to launching the attack.
