Ahmedabad: 15-Year-Old Girl Pregnant After Repeated Rape by Neighbour, Police Complaint Filed
Ahmedabad teen pregnant after alleged serial rape by neighbour

A shocking case of sexual assault has emerged from the old city area of Ahmedabad, where a 15-year-old girl was discovered to be approximately nine weeks pregnant during a medical examination. The revelation at Vadodara's SSG Hospital has led to a formal police complaint and an ongoing investigation into allegations of repeated rape by a neighbour.

Medical Discovery Uncovers Horrific Truth

The minor's ordeal came to light on January 7, when her mother, a domestic worker, took her to Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital in Vadodara for persistent stomach pain. The family had been seeking treatment for the girl's long-standing health issues, including seizures and abdominal problems, for over a year across multiple healthcare facilities in both Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

During the examination, doctors conducted a sonography and delivered the devastating news: the teenager was around nine weeks pregnant. This prompted the mother to question her daughter, who then disclosed a series of traumatic sexual assaults.

Alleged Pattern of Assault and Manipulation

According to the complaint filed with Khadia police on Wednesday, the girl narrated a disturbing sequence of events. The alleged assailant is a man living in their neighbourhood. The contact reportedly began after a festival visit, where he approached her, started a conversation, and later connected with her on social media platforms.

Over time, he allegedly gained her trust. The complaint details that on one occasion, as the girl was passing by his house on her way to a tuition class, he took her inside and forced himself on her despite her resistance. The minor stated that this was not an isolated incident. She alleged the accused raped her again about ten days later and committed a third assault in October 2025.

Pregnancy Test and Police Action

The girl, suspecting she might be pregnant, used a home pregnancy test strip on November 1, 2025, which showed a positive result. She allegedly informed the neighbour about the pregnancy through text messages. Following this communication, he stopped responding and cut off all contact.

After the girl's disclosure at the hospital, her mother informed the father, and the family approached the Khadia police station to seek legal action. The complaint formally alleges that the sexual assaults took place from mid-August 2025 onwards.

Police have initiated proceedings under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code. Authorities stated that the further investigation will include:

  • Recording detailed statements from the survivor and witnesses.
  • Collecting and analysing medical evidence from SSG Hospital.
  • Verifying digital communication records, including the alleged text messages.

The case highlights the vulnerability of minors and underscores the critical need for vigilance and swift justice in crimes against children.
