Following two high-level security review meetings chaired by Amit Shah on Tuesday, the Home Minister specifically instructed the FSL to match samples collected from the bodies found in the i20 car that exploded near Red Fort. The forensic team has been directed to conduct thorough analysis of all specimen samples gathered from the blast site and provide detailed findings at the earliest.
The security meetings saw participation from key officials including the director of Forensic Science Services and the chief director of Delhi's Forensic Science Laboratory. Shah emphasized that top investigating agencies are conducting an in-depth probe into the incident to uncover all aspects of the explosion.
Details of the Red Fort Car Blast
The tragic incident occurred on Monday evening when a slow-moving car exploded at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station. The high-intensity blast resulted in 12 fatalities and 20 injuries, while completely gutting several vehicles in the vicinity.
Contrary to initial suspicions, investigations reveal that this was not a suicide attack. According to ANI reports, the suspect appears to have triggered the explosion in panic rather than following the typical pattern of suicide car bombings. Security agencies noted that the suspect neither rammed the vehicle into a specific target nor intentionally caused collision, deviating from standard suicide bomber modus operandi.
Nationwide Security Operations and Compensation
In response to the incident, security agencies have launched extensive raids across multiple locations connected to terror networks. Significant quantities of explosives have been recovered from operations conducted in Faridabad, Saharanpur, Pulwama, and other areas. Investigators believe mounting pressure led the suspect to act hastily, resulting in the premature explosion.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced substantial financial assistance for the victims' families on Tuesday. The compensation package includes ₹10 lakh for families of each deceased victim, ₹5 lakh for those permanently disabled, and ₹2 lakh for individuals who sustained serious injuries.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Gupta stated on social media platform X: "The unfortunate incident in Delhi has left the entire city in shock. In this difficult time, the Delhi government extends its deepest condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones and to those injured in the incident."
The investigation continues as security remains heightened in the national capital, with forensic experts working round-the-clock to piece together the sequence of events that led to Monday's tragic explosion.
