Amritsar Police Intensifies Security with Special Search Operations
In a significant move to bolster public safety, the Amritsar city police executed a comprehensive special search operation on Wednesday. Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, coordinated efforts were deployed across multiple sensitive locations to ensure heightened vigilance and crime prevention.
Coordinated Efforts Across Key Areas
The operation involved teams from the local police working in tandem with the Special Operations Group (SOG), launching synchronized patrolling and checking drives. Key areas targeted included Yasin Road, Liberty Market, Heritage Street, Katra Jaimal Singh, Guru Bazaar, and various blocks of Ranjit Avenue. This strategic coverage aimed to address security concerns in both the inner city and its peripheral zones.
Detailed Checks at Transit Points
Security measures were particularly intensified at major transit hubs such as bus stands and the railway station. Police personnel conducted thorough vehicle inspections and meticulously questioned individuals deemed suspicious, recording their details for further verification. Commuters' luggage underwent careful scrutiny, and those found loitering without valid reasons were promptly interrogated to maintain order.
Enhanced Surveillance and Public Cooperation
Officials emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance surveillance and deter criminal activities. The presence of SOG commandos added an extra layer of vigilance, reinforcing the police's commitment to safety. In a public appeal, authorities urged citizens to remain alert and cooperative, encouraging them to report any suspicious persons or illegal activities immediately, with assurances of strict confidentiality for informants.
This proactive approach underscores the Amritsar police's dedication to creating a secure environment, leveraging both advanced operational tactics and community engagement to combat potential threats effectively.
