Arson Attempt in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar Sparks Panic, Accused on the Run
In a shocking incident of attempted arson, two men allegedly tried to set a house on fire in the early hours of Sunday in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar, causing widespread panic among residents. Both accused individuals are currently absconding, according to police officials.
CCTV Footage Reveals Deliberate Act of Arson
Police received information on Sunday about unknown persons attempting to ignite the complainant's house. During the investigation, authorities analyzed CCTV footage from the area, which clearly showed the involvement of two individuals who deliberately carried out the act. The footage, which later circulated on social media, purportedly depicts the duo pouring a flammable liquid, lighting a matchstick, and igniting a spot in a narrow lane on Railway Road around 3:10 AM.
As the liquid caught fire, a massive fireball momentarily engulfed the side of the lane. Three motorcycles were parked nearby, with one positioned just inches from the source of the blaze. Despite the initial intensity, the flame subsided shortly after. The duo was seen fleeing the spot before the fire died down.
Heated Quarrel Leads to Arson Attempt
A senior police officer stated that the fire was reportedly ignited following a heated quarrel between the complainant and the accused, who were standing near the residential house late at night. Angered by the argument, the accused allegedly set the house ablaze. The fire was quickly suppressed by water thrown by the family from inside the house, preventing further damage.
FIR Registered and Investigation Underway
Based on the complainant's statement and technical evidence, an FIR has been registered at the Adarsh Nagar police station. The charges include sections related to mischief by fire, voluntarily causing hurt, negligent conduct with respect to fire, and common intention under the BNS. Police have identified one of the accused and are actively tracing him, while the other remains unidentified. Teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspects using CCTV footage and technical surveillance.
