Aurangabad Police and CRPF Uncover Major Maoist Arms Cache in Forest Operation

In a significant development in the ongoing fight against Maoist insurgency, a joint team of Aurangabad police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a successful anti-Maoist operation on Sunday. The operation resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of ammunition and explosive materials from a forest area located within the limits of the Madanpur police station.

Intelligence-Led Search Operation Yields Critical Findings

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the security forces launched a meticulous search operation near the Gobardah hill region. During this intensive combing exercise, the team discovered and seized a variety of materials that were allegedly concealed by Maoist operatives. The recovered items included a diverse array of dangerous components, highlighting the sophisticated nature of the threat.

The seized materials comprised:

  • 44 live cartridges
  • 32 empty shells
  • 25 metres of codex wire
  • 29 commercial detonators
  • One improvised explosive device (IED) fitted with a detonator
  • A pressure mechanism with two metres of wire
  • A 9-volt battery

Swift Action and Ongoing Security Measures

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police, Ambrish Rahul, confirmed that the recovered IED and detonators were safely neutralised at the spot to prevent any potential harm. This immediate action underscores the professionalism and preparedness of the security forces in handling such high-risk situations.

SP Rahul further stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered in connection with the seizure at the Madanpur police station. This legal step marks the beginning of a formal investigation into the origins and intended use of the recovered materials.

Emphasising the ongoing commitment to security, SP Rahul added that intensive search and combing operations are continuing unabated in the affected areas. These sustained efforts aim to curb Maoist activities, dismantle their networks, and ensure the safety and security of local communities. The operation reflects a broader strategy to address insurgency through coordinated law enforcement actions.

The recovery of such a significant cache is seen as a major blow to Maoist capabilities in the region, potentially disrupting planned activities and enhancing public safety. Authorities remain vigilant, with similar operations expected to continue as part of a comprehensive approach to maintaining peace and order in vulnerable forest and rural areas.
