A horrific hit-and-run accident on Monday morning near Lucknow claimed two lives and left a woman fighting for her life. The incident occurred near Birouli village in front of Sameer International School, falling under the Masouli police station area of Barabanki.
High-Speed Collision Causes Chaos
According to eyewitness accounts, an unidentified vehicle was moving at an extremely high speed when it slammed head-on into an oncoming car with tremendous force. The impact of the collision was so severe that the victim's car was completely mangled and thrown off the road, causing panic among local residents. The violent crash also disrupted traffic on the highway for a considerable time, leading to long queues of vehicles.
Rescue Efforts and Victims Identified
Masouli police rushed to the spot and immediately initiated rescue operations. They faced a challenging situation as the driver's body was badly trapped inside the wreckage. With the help of a gas cutter and the assistance of passersby, police managed to extricate the bodies from the damaged vehicle after considerable effort. A large crowd had gathered at the accident site during the rescue operation.
The deceased have been identified as Santosh, son of Amarnath Mishra, who was driving the car, and Shanti Devi, wife of Amarnath Mishra, an elderly relative. The critically injured survivor is Santosi Kumari, wife of Santosh Kumar. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors described her condition as critical.
Police Investigation Underway
Police confirmed that all the victims were residents of Sudhikha village under the Gilaula police station in Shravasti district. Their family members were informed immediately after the tragic incident.
Authorities have now launched a manhunt to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the fatal crash. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to establish the vehicle's identity and take legal action against the driver, who fled the scene. The search for the speeding vehicle continues as the local community reels from the shock of the morning's events.
