In a shocking incident that has captured public attention, a used-car dealer from Davanagere has found himself in serious legal trouble after videos of him executing perilous stunts in a modified vehicle on Bengaluru's bustling Church Street went viral across social media platforms.
Police Take Suo Motu Action Against Reckless Driver
The Bengaluru City Police, acting on their own initiative, have registered a case against Madhusoodhan for obstructing traffic and jeopardizing the safety of commuters during the late hours of January 11. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident was promptly seized following the viral spread of the footage, and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) was immediately notified about the unauthorized modifications made to the car.
FIR Filed Based on Social Media Evidence
An official First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Cubbon Park traffic police station, based on a complaint submitted by Constable Shanumkha N. The constable had discovered Instagram videos depicting Madhusoodhan engaging in hazardous stunts, including driving with the car doors wide open, which posed a significant threat to other motorists and pedestrians on the heavily traversed Church Street.
After meticulously verifying the authenticity of the viral footage, law enforcement agencies launched an intensive manhunt to locate the accused. The police successfully traced Madhusoodhan to his hometown of Davanagere and formally booked him on Thursday under stringent legal provisions.
Legal Charges Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
The accused has been charged under Sections 281 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to rash or negligent driving and causing danger or obstruction on public ways, respectively.
