Bengaluru Domestic Help Arrested: Alleged Murder of Employer and Theft of Dog & Gold
Bengaluru help held for murder, theft of dog & gold

In a chilling case that has shaken Bengaluru's residential communities, police have arrested a domestic worker for the alleged murder of her 72-year-old employer, followed by the theft of valuable gold jewellery and even the victim's pet dog.

The accused, identified as 35-year-old Lakshmi, was taken into custody after investigators uncovered a trail of evidence linking her to the gruesome crime that occurred in the upscale HSR Layout area.

The Disturbing Sequence of Events

According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when Lakshmi, who had been working for the elderly woman for several months, allegedly strangled her employer during a heated argument. The confrontation reportedly began over unpaid wages and working conditions.

What makes this case particularly shocking is what followed the alleged murder. Instead of fleeing immediately, the domestic help reportedly spent considerable time in the house, methodically gathering valuable items including:

  • Gold jewellery worth approximately ₹15 lakh
  • Cash from the household
  • The victim's beloved pet dog

Investigation Breakthrough

The case broke open when concerned neighbors alerted police after not seeing the elderly woman for several days. Upon forced entry into the residence, authorities discovered the grim scene and immediately launched a manhunt for the missing domestic helper.

"The accused attempted to cover her tracks by claiming she had taken the dog for a walk and returned to find her employer dead," explained a senior police officer. "However, forensic evidence and witness statements contradicted her version of events."

Recovery of Stolen Property

In a significant development, police have successfully recovered most of the stolen gold jewellery from various pawn shops across the city. The pet dog was also found in good health at the accused's relative's house in a neighboring district.

"The canine was well-cared for, which added to the bizarre nature of this case," investigators noted.

Community Reaction and Safety Concerns

The incident has sparked widespread concern among Bengaluru residents who employ domestic help, raising questions about verification processes and safety measures for elderly individuals living alone.

Police have urged citizens to conduct proper background checks and maintain regular communication with neighbors when employing domestic workers, particularly for vulnerable family members.

The accused currently remains in judicial custody while the investigation continues to uncover additional details about the motive and planning behind this tragic incident.
