Family found dead in Bengaluru residence

A jeweller in Bengaluru, identified as Prakash, ended his life along with his wife and son on Sunday, July 4, 2026, due to severe financial distress. The bodies were discovered in their rented home in the Nagarbhavi area. Police said Prakash had been struggling with mounting debts for years.

Sold house five years ago, lived as tenant

According to police officials, Prakash had sold his house five years ago to manage his debts. Since then, he and his family had been living as tenants in the same property. They continued to reside there until February 2026, when the lease likely ended. The family had been under immense financial pressure, which led to the extreme step.

Debt burden and financial struggles

Friends and relatives informed the police that Prakash had borrowed heavily to sustain his jewellery business, but the venture failed to generate sufficient income. The exact amount of debt is yet to be ascertained. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating further. No suicide note was found at the scene.
