Bengaluru Nursing Student Files Harassment Complaint Against College Chairman
A 21-year-old student from a private nursing college in Bengaluru has formally accused the institution's chairman of sexual harassment and issuing threats related to her academic performance. The student, who resides in the college hostel in Thammenahalli, filed her complaint with the Bagalagunte police station on April 19, 2025.
Allegations of Derogatory Remarks and Academic Coercion
In her detailed complaint, the student stated that the alleged harassment began on August 9, 2025. She claimed the chairman repeatedly made derogatory and deeply personal remarks, including comparing her to a former girlfriend. She described his behavior as "perverse" and said it created a hostile, distressing environment that severely impacted her mental wellbeing and academic focus.
The situation reportedly escalated when the chairman began tying threats directly to her academic future. According to the student, he warned that failure to comply with his demands would result in:
- Failing her examinations
- Being denied essential academic certificates
- Other severe academic consequences
Principal's Alleged Complicity and Police Investigation
The student further alleged that the college principal not only failed to intervene but actively reinforced the pressure. She claimed the principal told her to obey the chairman's instructions or face serious repercussions.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 351 (criminal intimidation). However, the investigation revealed a complicating factor: the college chairman had already filed a complaint on April 13 against the same student and her boyfriend for allegedly sharing defamatory content about him and the college on social media platforms.
Chairman's Defense and Counter-Allegations
The chairman strongly denied all allegations, expressing shock at the complaint and maintaining his innocence. "The student was behaving abnormally and I'm shocked by the complaint filed by her," he stated. "She has made false allegations. We did not terminate her. We permitted her to appear for the exam, but she did not appear for it. We have even issued internal marks. We are ready to face the probe by police."
He emphasized his cooperation with authorities and openness to investigation while presenting his version of events, which includes the student's alleged failure to appear for examinations despite being permitted to do so.
The case presents conflicting narratives that police must now investigate thoroughly. The student's allegations of sexual harassment and academic coercion contrast sharply with the chairman's claims of defamation and the student's irregular behavior. As both parties maintain their positions, the Bagalagunte police continue their investigation into these serious allegations within Bengaluru's educational institution framework.
