Bengaluru Police on Friday clarified that there will be no 'peaceful human chain' by the 'Cockroach Janata Party Karnataka' in front of Town Hall. In a press release, the office of the city police commissioner stated that no application or permission has been received from any individual, organisation, or political party seeking permission for such a gathering. The statement further emphasised that no permission for the said programme or the use of the location has been granted to anyone by the GBA office.
The police advisory urged the public not to forward or share any such messages circulating on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Twitter. Citizens were also advised to refrain from assembling near Town Hall. According to the Karnataka High Court order, all protests, dharnas, and rallies are permitted only at Freedom Park in the city, and not at other locations, including Town Hall.
This clarification comes in response to unverified social media posts claiming that the group would gather for a peaceful demonstration. The police have reiterated that any unauthorised assembly will be dealt with according to the law. Inputs by Nyasa Gupta.
