Bengaluru Nightmare: Speeding Truck Crash Sparks Inferno, Claims 23-Year-Old's Life
A routine night in Bengaluru turned into a horrific tragedy in the early hours of Friday near Kurubarahalli, as a speeding and overloaded trailer truck went completely out of control, leading to a catastrophic chain of events that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.
The Fatal Sequence of Events
The incident occurred around 1:20 AM within the jurisdiction of the Rajajinagar Traffic Police Station. According to preliminary police reports, the trailer truck was heavily loaded with steel and traveling from Andhra Pradesh towards Sunkadakatte in west Bengaluru. While navigating a slope near Kurubarahalli, the driver lost control of the massive vehicle.
Authorities suspect the driver may have entered a restricted route specifically designated to keep heavy vehicles off this particular stretch. Local residents reported that the driver was following navigation instructions from Google Maps, though police officials have stated this detail requires further confirmation as part of their ongoing investigation.
Chain Reaction and Devastating Fire
What followed was a terrifying chain reaction with devastating consequences. The out-of-control truck violently slammed into a CNG-powered Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) that was parked near a scrap godown. The impact was so severe that the truck dragged the MUV for approximately 100 meters before finally crashing into a rajakaluve wall.
The collision immediately sparked a fire that rapidly escalated into an uncontrollable inferno. Flames quickly spread to the damaged MUV, the trailer truck itself, and a nearby godown filled with scrap materials. Within minutes, the entire area was engulfed in intense flames, creating a scene of utter devastation.
Tragic Loss of Young Life
Trapped inside the MUV was Ambadas, a 23-year-old resident of Kurubarahalli who originally hailed from Kalaburagi. According to reports, the young man was waiting in his vehicle for a trip assignment through an aggregator app when the tragedy struck. With no opportunity to escape the rapidly spreading blaze, Ambadas was tragically burnt alive in the raging fire.
Firefighters responded urgently to the emergency, deploying five to six fire tenders to battle the intense flames for several hours. Officials later described the recovery operation as extremely challenging due to the ferocity of the blaze, requiring cranes to clear the mangled remains from the accident site.
Aftermath and Investigation
The truck driver, identified as Sharma, sustained minor injuries in the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital under police custody. Meanwhile, family members revealed heartbreaking details about the victim's life circumstances.
Ambadas worked as a cab driver and had recently purchased his vehicle through a loan, working day and night to manage his monthly EMIs. His family had been actively planning his marriage for this year, making the loss even more devastating. He had left his home after 9 PM on the fateful night, never to return.
Mahalakshmi Layout MLA K Gopalaiah, who visited the accident site, described the incident as a "major disaster" and raised serious concerns about heavy vehicles entering restricted roads in residential areas. The Rajajinagar traffic police have formally registered a case and launched a comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the tragic incident.
