Bhopal Police Officer Revives Collapsed Man with Immediate CPR
In a dramatic incident at Nadra Bus Stand Square in Bhopal, a police officer's swift action saved a man's life after he suddenly collapsed on the road. Sub-inspector Vivek Sharma, who is posted at the Hanumanganj police station, was managing traffic and security arrangements at the busy bus stand when he noticed the emergency unfold.
Sudden Collapse During Routine Duty
The officer first saw a man get down from an e-rickshaw and then fall to the ground without warning. According to SI Vivek Sharma, the man showed no movement in his body after collapsing, and his condition appeared critical right away. The man's friend, who was present at the scene, revealed that the individual is a resident of Punjab.
Life-Saving CPR Administered on the Spot
Without wasting any time, SI Vivek Sharma immediately began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the spot. He performed continuous chest compressions for about thirty to forty-five seconds. During this critical period, the officer also had water sprinkled on the man in attempts to help him regain consciousness.
The efforts quickly showed results. The man started displaying signs of movement and gradually regained full consciousness. Once he was awake and responsive, SI Vivek Sharma advised that the man be taken to Hamidia Hospital for further medical treatment. The officer arranged for the man and his friend to proceed to the hospital without delay.
Patient Identified and Reported Stable
Later investigations identified the rescued individual as Gulab Singh, a resident of Ludhiana in Punjab. Follow-up reports confirmed that Gulab Singh's condition is now normal after receiving the necessary medical care at the hospital.
This incident highlights the importance of basic life support training and quick thinking during medical emergencies. SI Vivek Sharma's prompt intervention not only saved a life but also demonstrated exemplary dedication to public service beyond routine police duties.
