Bike stolen from Bengaluru station recovered, thief arrested

Bengaluru: A motorcycle stolen from the parking lot of KSR Bengaluru railway station more than two months ago was recovered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday. The authorities also apprehended a man suspected of stealing the bike, which is valued at approximately Rs 1.2 lakh.

Incident Details

Rakesh Chandran (name changed), a resident of Jakkur, arrived at the station on the morning of March 19 on his Hero XPulse motorcycle, which bears a Tamil Nadu registration plate. He parked the vehicle near the main entrance of the station. When he returned to the parking lot later that evening, he discovered that his bike was missing.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the complaint, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Bengaluru division, registered an FIR under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). RPF and GRP personnel reviewed CCTV footage from cameras installed at the station and nearby traffic rooms.

During the initial investigation, officers were unable to track the thief or locate the motorcycle until they received a tipoff on Thursday. Acting on inputs provided by the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB), the investigation team traced the suspect, identified as Suresh, 35, and recovered the stolen bike in the Cottonpet area.

Confession and Further Inquiry

Suresh, who hails from a village in Ballari district, confessed to the crime during interrogation. Officials stated that they are investigating whether Suresh was involved in similar incidents in Bengaluru in the past.
