Ahmedabad Wakes to Tragic News of Fatal SG Road Crash
The city of Ahmedabad received shocking news on Sunday morning. A severe accident occurred near Vaishnodevi Circle on SG Road. The crash involved a speeding Toyota Fortuner SUV and a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus. It resulted in one fatality and three injuries.
Victim Identified as Son of Former BJP Official
Police identified the deceased as Dhaval Ishwarsinh Vaghela. He was 24 years old. Dhaval is the son of I B Vaghela. His father served as the former general secretary of the BJP district organization in Gandhinagar. He also practices law.
Dhaval was driving the Fortuner. A female friend accompanied him in the vehicle. Medical staff declared Dhaval dead upon arrival at the hospital. His friend sustained critical injuries. She remains under treatment.
Bus Passengers and Crew Also Hospitalized
The collision injured several people on the bus. Two passengers required hospitalization. They are Afshanabanu Khalifa, aged 23, and Rasul Azam, aged 32. The bus driver, Paresh Sadhu, is 46 years old. The conductor, Ismailbhai Mansuri, also suffered injuries. Some passengers received blunt force trauma. Their conditions are currently stable.
Detailed Sequence of the Early Morning Accident
The incident happened around 6:10 AM. According to the FIR filed by driver Paresh Sadhu with Adalaj police, the bus was traveling from Himmatnagar to Rajkot. It was heading towards Ahmedabad.
The Fortuner SUV was speeding in the direction of Gandhinagar. Its driver attempted to overtake another car. He then lost control of the vehicle.
The SUV first crashed into the road divider. It vaulted over the barrier. The Fortuner landed on the opposite carriageway. It then smashed directly into the GSRTC bus. The collision point was near the flyover leading to Adani Shantigram.
The impact was tremendous. It pushed the bus onto the divider. The bus then veered onto the other side of the highway. A pole came down during the chaos. A hatchback following the Fortuner also crashed into the SUV.
