JAMSHEDPUR: Police discovered the body of a teenage girl inside a government school premises in Jamshedpur on Saturday morning, according to a PTI news agency report. The victim, believed to be around 17 years old, has not yet been identified, officials said.
Body Found in School
The body was recovered from a government school located in Sopodera village under the Parsudih police station area. It was first spotted by an anganwadi centre operator working on the school premises, who immediately alerted the police. A team rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation, said Avinash Kumar, officer-in-charge of Parsudih police station.
Post-Mortem and Identification
The body has been sent to MGM Hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Efforts to identify the girl are underway. Neighbouring police stations have been asked to verify missing person complaints registered in their jurisdictions. Kumar stated, "We have asked neighbouring police stations to verify missing person reports in their respective areas to establish the identity of the victim. Locals told us that the girl did not belong to Sopodera village."
Investigation Details
When asked about the possibility of rape and murder, the officer said that no signs of sexual assault were detected during the preliminary investigation. "The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received," he added.
