Bokaro Heist Foiled: Odisha Trio Arrested for Surveying Banks, Jewellery Stores
Bokaro: 3 from Odisha arrested for planning heist

Police in Bokaro have successfully thwarted a potential robbery by arresting three individuals from Odisha who were allegedly conducting reconnaissance on financial institutions and jewellery shops in the city.

Police Nab Trio at Abdul Hamid Chowk

The arrests took place at Abdul Hamid Chowk, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gandhinagar police outpost. The men were reportedly gathering intelligence on various targets to plan a detailed heist. Senior Police official SP Harvinder Singh confirmed the development and revealed significant details about the accused's past.

Criminal Past Across State Lines

Investigations uncovered that the arrested individuals are not first-time offenders. SP Singh stated that the trio has existing criminal cases registered against them in the states of Bihar, Ranchi, and Simdega. This inter-state criminal record raised immediate red flags for the Bokaro police, indicating the possibility of a more organized crime operation.

The accused have been identified as Sunil Das (33), Kabadi Gopal (22), and Aula Alok Rao (21). During interrogation, they made several confessions that linked them to other crimes.

Stolen Motorcycle and Snatching Attempt

The three men admitted to stealing a motorcycle from the state of Andhra Pradesh. To avoid detection, they had fitted the vehicle with a counterfeit number plate, a common tactic used by criminals to evade law enforcement.

Furthermore, they confessed to their involvement in an attempted chain snatching incident. The attempt took place at a jewellery store located in Jaridih Bazaar on November 26. This admission directly connected them to active criminal activity in the region prior to their arrest for surveying.

The swift action by the Gandhinagar police outpost has potentially prevented a serious crime, highlighting the importance of vigilance and proactive policing. The accused are now in custody and face a range of charges based on their confessions and the evidence collected.
