Rajasthan Passport Offices Evacuated Following Coordinated Bomb Threat Emails
A major security alert was triggered across Rajasthan on Tuesday after a coordinated series of bomb threat emails targeted passport offices throughout the state. The alarming situation led to the immediate evacuation of multiple government facilities and initiated comprehensive search operations by security forces.
Jaipur Offices First to Receive Threats
The security ordeal began when the Regional Passport Office in Jaipur received a threatening email warning of imminent bomb explosions scheduled for the afternoon. In swift response, local police and security agencies implemented precautionary measures, evacuating both the Passport Seva Kendra located in Orbit Mall and the Regional Passport Office in the Jhalana area of the city.
Authorities restricted entry to both locations while bomb disposal squads and security personnel conducted thorough inspections that lasted nearly one hour. Officials later confirmed that no suspicious items or explosives were discovered during these intensive searches.
Threats Spread to Multiple Districts
The situation quickly escalated as similar threatening emails emerged at passport offices across numerous Rajasthan districts. Police teams responded to threats in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Udaipur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Nagaur, Kota, and Jhalawar.
In Kota and Jhalawar, local authorities were alerted after CID Intelligence in Jaipur forwarded information about the threats received earlier in the day. As a precautionary measure, passport service centers located within post office premises in both cities were immediately evacuated. Staff and applicants were safely escorted out while extensive security searches were conducted, which ultimately yielded no findings.
Detailed Security Responses Across Districts
In Jaisalmer, the threatening email specifically mentioned the Passport Seva Kendra located within the Main Post Office. Police quickly secured the area, evacuated all personnel and visitors, locked down the main gate, and established a comprehensive security cordon while searches were carried out.
Bhilwara police responded to a similar threat email received at their district passport office. Senior police officials, along with emergency response teams and fire brigade personnel, evacuated the building and conducted thorough searches. Once again, no explosives or suspicious objects were discovered during these operations.
Security forces deployed multiple specialized units including bomb disposal squads, civil defence teams, and dog squads to conduct the searches across all affected locations. The coordinated nature of the threats suggested a planned attempt to disrupt passport services and create panic across Rajasthan.
Authorities have confirmed that all searches concluded without finding any explosive devices, though investigations into the source of the threatening emails continue. The incidents highlight the vulnerability of government facilities to digital threats and the importance of robust emergency response protocols.
