Justice Madhav Jamdar, while hearing applications related to violent clashes during the Mahad Municipal Council elections in Raigad district, directly questioned whether Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was too "helpless" to take action against a cabinet minister whose son has been successfully avoiding arrest for several weeks.

The case specifically involves Vikas Gogawale, son of Shiv Sena minister Bharat Gogawale, and Shreeyansh Jagtap, son of former MLA Manik Jagtap who is a prominent NCP leader. While Vikas Gogawale and his cousin Mahesh were denied pre-arrest bail in the matter, Shreeyansh Jagtap received interim protection from arrest back in December.
