Burglars targeted two homes in a quiet village in Kutch district, making off with a significant haul of valuables. The incidents occurred in Khambhara village, located in Anjar taluka, over a period from January 12 to January 15, 2026. Thieves stole cash along with gold and silver jewellery, with the total value estimated at Rs 7.19 lakh.
Complaint Filed by Local Tailor
A formal complaint has been registered at the Anjar Police Station, which falls under the Kutch East jurisdiction. Virendra Vegad, a 49-year-old resident who works as a tailor, filed the report. Vegad explained that he and his family had traveled to Ahmedabad on January 12 to celebrate the Uttarayan festival.
Discovery Upon Return
On January 15, a neighbour contacted Vegad to alert him about an open door at his house. Vegad rushed back to Khambhara immediately. After inspecting his home, he discovered that burglars had taken gold and silver ornaments along with cash. The total loss from his property amounted to Rs six lakh.
Second House Also Targeted
Police investigations revealed that the burglars did not stop at Vegad's house. They also broke into the neighbouring residence belonging to Gajanand Tank. From this second home, thieves stole jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 1.20 lakh. The combined theft from both houses reached Rs 7.19 lakh.
Authorities are now actively investigating the burglaries. They are reviewing evidence and speaking with villagers to gather more information. The Anjar Police Station has assured the community that they are working diligently to solve these crimes and recover the stolen items.
