Buxar District Administration Implements Stringent Measures to Alleviate Traffic Gridlock
In response to escalating traffic congestion plaguing major arterial roads, the Buxar district administration has unveiled a comprehensive action plan aimed at restoring order and ensuring seamless vehicular movement. The initiative, announced on Monday, follows a high-level meeting convened at the collectorate, jointly presided over by District Magistrate Sahila and Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya.
Critical Stresses and Commuter Frustrations
The administration has identified the worst-affected corridors, notably the stretch from Buxar Golambar to Purana Bhojpur and the route connecting Dumraon town to Dumraon block. Daily commuters have voiced significant distress over the persistent gridlock. Nisha Rani, a regular traveler, highlighted the severity, stating, "The Buxar Golambar to Purana Bhojpur section remains choked for hours daily, turning even short trips into prolonged ordeals."
Echoing similar grievances, a Dumraon resident attributed the chronic congestion on the Dumraon town–block office road to unregulated auto-rickshaw stops and rampant illegal parking, underscoring the urgent need for intervention.
Formation of Quick Response Teams for Enhanced Monitoring
To bolster ground-level enforcement, the administration has mandated the establishment of three Quick Response Teams (QRTs) within the Buxar Nagar Parishad jurisdiction and two in the Dumraon Nagar Parishad area. These specialized units will conduct regular patrols at major intersections and junctions, empowered to take immediate action against traffic violators.
District Magistrate Sahila issued a stern warning, emphasizing that negligence and non-compliance with traffic regulations will incur strict penalties. The directive aims to curb a wide array of infractions, including illegal parking, application of black films on vehicle windows, overloading of passenger vehicles, minors operating e-rickshaws, triple riding, riding without helmets, and failure to wear seat belts. Additionally, vehicles lacking valid fitness or pollution certificates will face enforcement actions.
Comprehensive Enforcement Strategy and Infrastructure Improvements
Special attention will be directed towards maintaining lane discipline on national highways and preventing unauthorized passenger pick-up and drop-off activities. Officials have also cautioned against the misuse of sirens and pressure horns, affirming that such practices will not be tolerated.
Acknowledging that roadside encroachments, vegetable vendors, and haphazard parking exacerbate congestion, authorities have been instructed to conduct regular eviction drives. Concurrently, Nagar Parishad officials have been tasked with installing proper signage, while the road construction department will undertake repairs of potholes and complete blacktopping works. To mitigate dust pollution, regular water sprinkling has been ordered along affected routes.
This multi-pronged approach seeks to address both immediate enforcement needs and long-term infrastructural enhancements, aiming to transform Buxar's traffic landscape and improve daily commuter experiences.
