Cachar Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 2 Crore in Sonai Raid
Cachar police have made a significant drug bust in the Sonai area. They seized heroin valued at approximately Rs 2 crore and arrested a suspected trafficker. The operation took place on Monday evening.
Raid Uncovers Hidden Contraband
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team raided a house in Kachudaram under Sonai police station. They recovered 365 grams of heroin from the residence of Anwar Hussain. The drugs were concealed inside 30 soap cases.
Police took Hussain into custody immediately at the scene. They noted the careful packaging of the heroin. This method was likely used to avoid detection during transport.
Well-Planned Trafficking Operation
Authorities believe the seizure points to a well-organized trafficking network. A preliminary assessment indicates the heroin could fetch around Rs 2 crore in the illegal market.
Additional SP Subrata Sen of Cachar stated that the arrested suspect is under interrogation. Police are working to trace both forward and backward links in the drug network.
"We are investigating possible involvement of others in this racket," Sen said. "Further arrests are likely as our investigation moves forward."
Continued Crackdown on Drug Trade
Sen emphasized the district police's commitment to combating drug trafficking. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in the narcotics trade.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The investigation remains ongoing to uncover more details about this operation.
