Case Against Minor Driver, Car Owner for Reckless Driving in Udupi

Manipal police have registered a case against a minor and the owner of a car in connection with rash and negligent driving, which resulted in a collision with a parked scooter outside a house in Udupi.

Incident Details

According to the complaint filed by Chandrakala Harish, 36, a resident of Badagubettu village, Udupi, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening while she was at home. A car traveling from Netaji Nagar towards Pragathi Nagar was allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner and rammed her parked scooter, which was stationed by the roadside outside her house. The impact of the collision pushed the scooter into the compound wall of the house, causing it to fall and sustain damage.

Legal Action

Police identified the driver as Mohammed Saif, 17, a resident of Badagubettu village, Udupi. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Salim, the owner of the car, for permitting a minor to drive the vehicle. Manipal police have registered a case under Section 281 of the BNS and Sections 4 and 199(a) of the Motor Vehicles Act, and have taken up further investigation.
