Central Crime Branch Nabs Bhopal Man in Illegal Firearms Supply Case
Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru have made a significant arrest, apprehending a 34-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh for his alleged involvement in supplying country-made pistols and live ammunition to a businessman in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Syed Irfan Hyder Rizwi, a civil engineer and resident of Bhopal, was taken into custody following an earlier operation that led to the arrest of two other individuals earlier this month.
Details of the Earlier Arrests and Investigation
In the initial phase of the investigation, CCB police arrested Syed Masood from Jayanagar in Bengaluru and Javed Alam, also from Bhopal. During this operation, authorities recovered a country-made pistol and live bullets from Masood, who is a businessman. Upon interrogation, Masood disclosed that he had purchased the weapon for approximately Rs 40,000 with Alam's assistance. He claimed that he was in a relationship that was opposed by the girl's family and had bought the pistol for self-protection after receiving threats.
Police revealed that Alam acted as a middleman, facilitating illegal firearm deals. Based on his statement, investigators traced and arrested Rizwi, who was allegedly the supplier of the weapons. According to the investigators, Rizwi confessed that he had sourced the weapon from a man in Indore who is reportedly involved in manufacturing illegal firearms.
Ongoing Efforts and Police Statements
A senior police officer stated, "We will question Rizwi further to gather more details and are working to identify and arrest the manufacturer." This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on the illegal arms trade, which poses a significant threat to public safety. The case underscores the cross-state nature of such criminal activities, with links between Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
The CCB's swift action in this matter demonstrates their commitment to addressing firearm-related crimes in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full network involved in the manufacturing and distribution of these illegal weapons.
