Chandigarh Crime Branch Arrests Private Lab Owner in Sector 32 Pharmacy Shooting

The Chandigarh Police Crime Branch made a significant arrest on Monday in connection with a recent shooting incident at a pharmacy in Sector 32. They took 28-year-old Rahul Bisht into custody. Bisht owns a private diagnostic laboratory in the same sector.

Alleged Role in Planning the Attack

Police officials state that Bisht played a key role in planning the attack. He allegedly shared sensitive information about the pharmacy and its owners with gangster Saba Gobindgarh. Saba Gobindgarh is a close associate of the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Investigators believe a personal dispute with the pharmacy owners motivated Bisht's actions. Through technical surveillance and sustained questioning, police identified him as the prime conspirator in this case.

Details of the Firing Incident

The shooting occurred around 9:50 PM on Thursday night at Sewak Pharmacy. Two unidentified youths arrived on a scooter. One entered the pharmacy and fired two rounds at Tanish Luthra, a 23-year-old shop owner.

The assailant allegedly intended to kill Luthra. One bullet struck the glass counter. The other hit the lower portion of the counter. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries during the incident.

In his complaint, Tanish Luthra told police he was inside the shop with a staff member when the firing happened. The two shooters fled the scene immediately after the attack. They remain absconding as of now.

Extortion Angle and Organized Crime Probe

Following the shooting, the pharmacy owners reportedly received an extortion call. The caller demanded Rs 2 crore from them. This development strengthens the angle of organized crime and extortion in the case.

Police confirm they are probing this aspect thoroughly. The connection to known gangsters suggests a broader criminal network might be involved.

Police Verify Viral Audio Clip

Authorities are also verifying the authenticity of a viral audio clip. In this clip, a person identifies himself as gangster Saba Gobindgarh. He takes responsibility for the attack on the pharmacy.

The speaker in the purported audio names the owner of Sewak Pharmacy. He levels allegations of "drug trafficking" against them. The audio also issues threats to kill the shop owner or his family if they approach the police.

Police sources indicate the audio hints at more potential attacks. It claims a list of other targets exists. This raises serious concerns about ongoing criminal activity in the area.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Actions

Chandigarh Police teams are conducting raids at multiple locations. Their primary goal is to track down the two shooters involved in the crime. More arrests are likely in the coming days as the investigation progresses.

Police emphasize that further investigation is underway. They are committed to uncovering all links in this case. The arrest of Rahul Bisht marks a crucial step, but the hunt for the shooters continues.

This incident highlights the challenges law enforcement faces with organized crime networks. The public awaits more updates as police work to ensure justice and safety in Chandigarh.
