Charred Body of Woman Discovered in Ahmedabad, Police Suspect Suicide
In a distressing incident, the charred body of a 50-year-old woman was found in the bushes near Noblenagar crossroads in Ahmedabad on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ganga Divakar, who was reportedly mentally unstable, leading police to suspect she committed suicide.
Initial Investigation and Identification
Airport police inspector N D Nakum stated that a case of accidental death was initially registered. CCTV footage from the area captured the woman's movements, and later, her family confirmed her identity as Ganga Divakar. Nakum explained that her mental instability likely contributed to the tragic event, but investigations are still underway to ascertain the exact circumstances.
Discovery and Response
The body was first noticed by a group of boys from a nearby slum settlement, who immediately alerted a traffic personnel at the crossroads. This personnel then informed the police control room, prompting a swift response. The Forensic Science Laboratory team was called to the spot to assist with the investigation, given the challenging condition of the charred remains, which made immediate identification difficult.
Location and Ongoing Probe
The body was located near the wall of Kotarpur Water Works, opposite Noblenagar crossroads. Police have registered a case and are continuing their inquiries, with no foul play suspected at this stage. This incident highlights concerns over mental health and public safety in urban areas.
